Men Lake Mall and letch er's Seed and arm Supply at 2313 Country Club Road Thibodeaux said the pri ces of this year's tickets have defied inflation and will re main unchanged with re served seats Hans were made at the meeting to attend the parish and district HA meetings The chapter also voted to take an HA Trip in the spring LAKE It's Moe and Joe Moe Bandy and Joe Stamp ley two of Country Mu sic's singing stars of televis ion radio stage and record ing are coming back to de light rodeo fans at the 42nd edition of the Southwest Dis trict Livestock Show and Ro deo to be held at Burton Col iseum eb 19 22 John Denison chair man of the Southwest rodeo and livestock extravaganza made the announcement after arranging for the return of the popular singing stars who first appeared in the Coli seum in 1979 Joe Stampley will per form at the Thursday and riday rodeo attractions which get underway at 7:30 each night Denison said Moe Bandy is scheduled to entertain Saturday night at 7:30 and at the 2:30 Sunday matinee Tommy Steiner one of the nation's "Big 3" rodeo producers and his son Bobby Steiner will again produce the World's Championship RCA Rodeo competition which is expected to attract hundreds of title aspirants from all over the United States and Canada The Steiner father son team from Austin Tex has become the foremost rodeo producing teftm in the South land and Denison is predict ing the "biggest entry list ever" of cowboys and cow girls for the 1981 event Denison was also optimis tic about a "record breaking" Cfzema Newton Vice a life long resident has offici ally filed and now wishes to announce his candidacy for Chief of Police in the April 4 election A retired butcher Vice is a Master Mason and a member of the Lion's Club Vice is 39 years old Vice has stated that one issue in his campaign will be "to pledge to the citizens that he will be a full time officer and will be available 24 hours a day to help or advise anyone who may need assistance Vice is also have one er Gov David Treen an hounced this week in Baton Rouge that he has allocated $65 000 for repairs and op erating costs to the Gum Cove erry in Calcasieu Parish through the Emer gency Road und providing tlie necessary information on the project The Gum Cove erry crosses the Intercoastal Water way and is located south of Sulphur off LA 27 The ferry was put out of service for repair on Oct 14 1980 HR David Riggins announces for council Three knitted by Mrs Gertrude Stoudt 81 a member of Hammond irst Baptist Church Mrs Stoudt made 110 caps in small medium and large sizes for youngsters April 4 primary Semar has been an aider man for the past eight years A native of Church Point he is a graduate of Lafayette Senior High School and at tended the University of Southwestern Louisiana He has resided in Vinton for 15 years Semar has been employed in the electrical department of DuPont Chemical in Or ange for 16 years He is a past grand knight of Vinton Knights of Colum bus council 6103 serving three terms He was also on the St Joseph's Parish Council from 1975 78 and belongs to the Athletic Boost ers and Band Boosters Semar 38 is married to the former Judy Anne Breaux of Orange They have four children: Anne Chris Stephanie and Mitchel he Semars live at 1423 Grace David Travis Riggins 25 has qualified as a candidate for aiderman in the Vinton city election on April 4 Riggins filed for office at the clerk of court's office on Jan 27 A lifelong resident of Vinton he is a Vinton High School graduate and attend ed Northwestern State Uni versity He is employed as an operator by DuPont in Orange Riggins is president of the Cal Ca Advisory Board in Vinton and is secretary of the Vinton Merchants Association He is on the Niblett's Bluff Park Com mission and a member of the Mary O'Quinn called the roll and presented special awards Cheryl Stanley received a certificate for placing first in the local yam contest Mitzi Judice presented the officer candidates Vinton HA prepared a booth on Molded Candies lllll Greg Yandle assistant coach and instructor in the department of pure and ap plied science at Vinton High School was one of eight teachers from Calcasieu Pa rish selected to attend the TOPS Alyea Chemistry Work shop in Baton Rouge to le held March 12 it was an nounced by Maurice Mueschke principal of VHS Yandle was selected by the State Department of Ed ucation and the Calcasieu Parish School System Se lection is based on criteria that identify a teacher as outstanding in his field and who displays potential for future professional and ac ademic two contenders so far Lionel Alamond incumbent1 and Ozema Vice Robert Miller signed up for the justice of peace race Qualifying will close riday at 5 at the Clerk of Court's office in Lake Charles Vinton student Sheriff calls meeting A special meeting has been called by Wayne McElveen to be held at the Sheriff's office on Jan 29 at 3 to take action ordering a special election in the Law Enforcement District in Cal casieu and to transact any and all other business All interested parties are invited to attend Registration begins in March at Elem Registration for students entering kindergarten and new students entering first grade will be held during the first week of March at Vin ton Elementary School Children will be required to have their birth certificate and an up to date health card The health cards used by the school can be obtained from the Vinton Health Unit which is open on the third Thursday of each month If your records are from a personal physician you may get a card from the Health Unit so they can be transferred to a Louisiana Health Card by your physi cian So there will be no delay in registering your children in March please obtain these two documents
